Let us Build our Safe Home.

Writer: J. Shruti Khurana J. Shruti Khurana

A home is what protects a living soul from several calamities like storms, tsunami, every day’s hot or cold weather and of course, even the current prevailing pandemic COVID-19. Imagine if you did not have a home, you would be struggling to get through the day without any protection from the latter. Similarly, your “karma” helps to build a home around you that protects you from getting hurt mentally or physically from any foreseeable or unforeseeable danger that perhaps were to happen. The protection is built as an AURA around you that sends positive energy channelizing your path.

Every rising sun brings you an opportunity to build your safe home. Several people are extending their help to those in need regardless of the existence of the pandemic and gaining the benefit of building their safe homes. I am taking this opportunity to not only share the experience but also thank those who are building this safe home for themselves by helping people around them.

Facing the consequences of the pandemic has not been easy on anyone, losing several people near family and friends and what hurts the most is not being able to help or do anything besides praying and watching doctors do their best. Moreover, the medical treatment turns out to be very expensive which is way past affordable for below-average income families. Even if a person wants to help, it is difficult to be able to extend help to every suffering soul. However, being such beautiful souls on our mother earth, we can at least try to help to best of our ability.

My Dad and I have been going for a morning walk daily around 6 am at our fixed park near our home. We have been spending a lot of time in the park with people ranging from 45-85 years old sharing their experience of life and how they appreciate every moment they get to live. An uncle of 80 years old brings pearl millets for the pigeons and spends time on himself after feeding them. And because it is a little difficult for him to do more, he encourages people around him to do so. Our small oldies gang extend help in their way either by bringing water, grains, peanuts, milk or their left-out food from home with some extra loaves of bread to feed the cow and the delicious rice for the crows etc.

I witness several other people daily who feed the dogs, cows, crows and even provide help to domestic helpers of home and their neighbouring parks.

Few of them help by paying extra for fruits and vegetables or by simply providing those fruits to Rickshaw wale bhaiya who hasn’t got to provide a ride due to covid.

A lady every morning cooks khichdi for 200- 250 dogs and despite her already feeding these many, she encourages people around her to feed in the areas unreachable for her. In the same park, a man brings 5 kL of milk, bread.

I feel blessed having a father being one of them who never steps back from doing the same. It has become a part of our daily routine to feed around 100 cows, near 100 crows, 50+ dogs and few kids from below average families. We are two people trying to provide a basic necessity to animals and our neighbouring domestic helpers as much as we can. Regardless of how much ever we provide, the more powerful is their blessing is everyday. It feels so great to be able to witness those smiles and receive their blessings. These blessings make me feel safe and secure, it’s like gaining a magical power from all the love they provide.

One of the uncles that we spend time with calls this feeling “a shield or a safe home”. When you indulge yourself in some work that helps others or that makes someone dependent on you, then God automatically protects you because you are decreasing god’s work by taking care of his creation. It’s like God is running a company in which you are doing an excellent job and the company cannot afford to lose you in any way, so they increase your pay to make you continue the amazing work you have been doing.

PS: I am sure God is running a company just like that, that we are not aware of. Thank you to all those employees. Also, I Love you Dad for teaching me morals so well and making me capable to be able to help others.
