Hello readers,
A while ago, I made a video with one of my friends Sagar regarding studying law in canada. I received a marvellous response from the people asking several questions and I have been answering to them by messaging personally. Here are some of the simplified information that could be useful for others as well, especially Indian students.

General process to become a lawyer in Canada?
- To become a lawyer in Canada, the basic requirement is a 2-3 year degree program or an undergraduate degree and completion of 3 year law school.
- After completion of studies, one has to complete articling period and pass Bar Council of exam designated by respective desired province.
REQUIREMENTS FOR DEGREE PROGRAM
- You need to complete your 12th grade with a minimum requirement of 70%.
- 90% above, to be granted scholarship which ranges from 1000-3000 dollars per semester.
- To be admitted to any University or college in Canada, the language test is must. You must score minimum 6.5 band overall provided 6 band in each section i.e reading, writing, listening and speaking.
-The courses chosen in high school or undergraduate program does not affect your ability to enter into law school. The only requirement is to achieve high CGPA.
-The University expense can be high for an international student i.e around 15L INR per year.
REQUIREMENTS FOR LAW SCHOOL
-Higher than 3.2 gpa and reasonable LSAT scores.
- The LSAT includes analytical section, logical reasoning and reading comprehension.
-chose the subjects in the undergraduate program that improves above required skills.
- The LSAT does not test your legal knowledge.
- This also applies for the INDIAN GRADUATED STUDENTS. For those with Ba, Bcom etc (need to ensure that the law school accepts 3 year degree program before applying).
-The expense for a law school tuition fee for an international student can be double the fees for undergraduate degree.
INDIAN LAW STUDENTS
-The Indian lawyers planning to practice in Canada can choose two ways to do so.
- They need to pass NCA (The National Committee on Accreditation) exam to make their degree credential equivalent to Canada's.
-The other way is to apply for LLM at a Canadian's university which would require LLB grades and language test i.e Ielts, however the minimum band requirement here maybe different.
-After masters, an individual is granted 2-3 years for work experience.
-It is although recommended to the Indian lawyers to pass NCA exam even if they plan for pursuing LLM in Canada.
